Texas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress, one of President Trump’s top evangelical advisors, has just come forward saying God has given Trump the moral authority to take out North Korea.
He made the statement in a phone interview shortly after he heard Trump say that North Korea’s regime will be “met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”
It’s clear he was referring to a nuclear attack, since the world has seen plenty of other types of escalations, including the ‘Mother of all Bombs’ Trump already authorized in Afghanistan.
Jeffress says that Romans 13 in the Bible gives the government authority to deal with ‘evildoers.’
“That gives the government to the authority to do whatever, whether it’s assassination, capital punishment or evil punishment to quell the actions of evildoers like Kim Jong Un,” he said.
When Jeffress was reminded about Romans 12, which says “Do not repay evil for evil,” he dismissed that argument by saying that passage was only meant for Christians, not to the government as a whole. In this case, he says, Trump has the full authority of God to unleash a nuclear attack on North Korea.
Around the same time, Trump made his comments Meet the Press leaked footage of a video of Trump from 1999, where he defended launching a pre-emptive strike against North Korea.
Despite being warned that virtually all military experts advised against it, saying it would be absolutely devastating to the Asian peninsula, Trump said ‘you want to wait until they get nuclear weapons? You better do it now.’
Well, North Korea has nuclear capabilities now. And, Trump is talking about ‘all options being on the table.’ It’s a scary thing, indeed.
